In the hills east of Napa is our Mt. George Vineyard, the site of one of the first grape plantings in the valley in the nineteenth century. Old redwood grape stakes were found in the chaparral before we developed the property, and a weathered stone gate still guards the tree-lined entrance. Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grow here in deep gravelly soils derived from volcanic rock and ash, providing dark color, depth, and structure to our blends.
