Winemaker Jon Emmerich remembers his parents drinking Mateus, the very same Portuguese rosé that helped lead to rosé’s evolution in Napa Valley. Armed with a UC Davis degree and experience in France, he now makes wines like this winning rosé of sangiovese (called a rosato, Italy’s term for rosé).
