"Silverado Vineyards is known for many things - Chardonnay, Cabernet, and Sauvignon Blanc come readily to mind - but its Merlot has always been its ace in the hole."

"Silverado Vineyards 2007 Merlot Mt. George 89% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon notes of woodsy spice, cedar, sun-ripened berry with hints of toasted coconut. Huge, full-bodied wine laden with jammy black cherry pie flavors, caramel and dash of herbal brightness. Silky lingering finish. Porterhouse steak."

2007 Mt. George Merlot: Merlot is NOT Cabernet. Thinner skinned and earlier ripening than the other great Claret varieties, it needs a cooler growing site to slow down sugar development, allowing flavor ripeness to catch up. That is why we like our Mt. George vineyard which gives our Merlot its oily herbal and black berry fruit flavors with a serious core of tannin for body.
