"The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is a gorgeous example of elegance allied to power. The final blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc offers up notes of crushed rock, spring flowers, red and black currants, and plum as well as hints of while chocolate and subtle barrique smells. Medium to full-bodied, with a nicely layered mouthfeel that builds incrementally, the wine has superb purity as well as accessibility. It can be drunk now or cellared for 15 or more years. This is a strong group of wines from Silverado, and certainly a great deal of credit must go to the winemaker Jonathan Emmerich."

"Vanilla, coffee, dark chocolate and black fruit bouquet. Super-rich, dense and sumptuous but not jammy, with sturdy tannins. Has great splendour and persistence. Drink: 2011-2015"

"I am impressed with the structure of this wine. This shows intense aromas of crushed blackberries and blueberries that follow to a full body, with lots of fruit and a velvety tannin structure. Long and structured."

"Rich blackcurrant and blackberry fruit with some spicy, grippy tannins. Grippy with good balance between the ripe fruit and tarry, tannic structure. It carries the alcohol really well: a satisfying wine. 91/100"

A copper-bottomed keeper - A rich and velvety Cabernet Sauvignon, full of complex notes of plum, coffee and spice. Tuck it away for at least another five years.

2007 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon:
Every year, when it is time to assemble the next vintage, we renew the conversation about what makes a "classic" Napa Cabernet. Our guiding idea is balance: richness vs. tannins, ripe fruit vs. dried herb aromatics, ageability vs. instant gratification. Each year we aim to balance the velvety textured cherries and plums from our Stags Leap Vineyard with the big bodied, black berried fruit of our Mt. George Vineyard to create our version of a Napa classic.
