Heritage

Miller Ranch Vineyard is south of Yountville, nestled between the Napa River and Hopper Creek. The property was originally a wedding gift to David and Sarah Dunlap from Sarah’s Father, and was first planted to vine in the 1870s. The Miller family purchased the land and restored the vineyards for the Silverado estate in 1976.

Soils & Climate

Yolo Loam and Clear Lake Clay Drained soils are silty, cool and deep — perfect for aromatic white wines. Open to the south, the vineyard enjoys the benefit of bay breezes and fog which contributes to the wine’s green citrus and melon notes and bright minerality.

Vintage Notes

The 2021 season was an unusual one, much like the year itself. The winter was warm and dry with rain and cold weather appearing at the end of March. The mild spring season provided an early start challenged by COVID protocols but progressed successfully. Summer brought very cool mornings and warm days. This build up to harvest was interrupted by wildfires in late August and late September. The white and rosé wine harvest started in mid to late-August avoiding the full impact of the fires, resulting in excellent quality wines.

Tasting Notes

Our 2021 Sauvignon Blanc is a bright and lively wine with aromas of citrus, honeydew melon and white floral notes. On the palate, flavors of grapefruit, pineapple and lime are present with a subtle minerality. A well-balanced, medium-bodied wine with crisp, refreshing finish.
